Privacy

This page explains, in plain terms, how the public PerPlexed Media member portal works with information. It covers this website only.

About this website

This website is the public member portal for PerPlexed Media. It presents access information, request information and support information, and links out to the separate services where those things actually happen. Library, account and viewing information is not published here.

Access request information

If you submit the Request to Join form, the information you enter is stored so the request can be reviewed. That may include:

  • your name
  • the email address registered to your Plex account
  • an optional mobile number
  • your preferred contact method
  • how you heard about PerPlexed Media, if you choose to answer
  • an optional message

This information is used to review access requests, contact applicants about their request, and manage member access and support. The form never asks for a Plex password, PIN or token, and you should never provide one.

Browsing the rest of the website does not require an account. As with any website, requests to the site may be logged by the hosting provider as part of delivering and securing the site.

Separate member services

Plex, the media service, PerPlexed Requests and WhatsApp support are separate services. They operate under their own privacy practices and handle their own account and service information, and using them is a separate step from browsing this website.

Signing in with Plex

Members sign in using their existing Plex account. PerPlexed Media never sees or stores a Plex password, PIN or token: Plex confirms who you are, and only the resulting account details — Plex account identifier, the email address on that account, display name and avatar image address — are kept so your membership can be recognised.

A sign-in cookie is set in your browser so you stay signed in between pages. It holds only those verified account details, is not readable by scripts in the page, and is removed when you sign out. Whether your Plex account still has access is re-checked with Plex rather than trusted from the cookie.

Inside the member portal

Once signed in, information is handled as follows:

  • searches and title requests are sent to the request service from the server, and a request you submit is attributed to the email address on your Plex account
  • support reports you submit, and any notes administrators add to them, are stored so the report can be followed up
  • which announcements you have marked as read is stored so notifications work
  • administrative actions and sign-in security events are recorded so member access can be managed and misuse can be identified

Member and administrator pages are not published to search engines, and none of this information is shown on the public part of the website.

Links to other services

Where this website links to another service, that service is responsible for what happens once you follow the link. Please review the information provided by that service before you use it.
